 one.

 Drew,

Prior to the 8 we currently own, we had a TR7. Prior to the TR7, we had a
TR6. Prior to the TR6 we had a TR3. They were all pressed into daily
service. The 8 is a daily hauler...my butt to work; kids to soccer; grocery
shopping; car shows; errands; garbage dump. You name, it's game for it.
I very, very rarely have problems.....due in most part because I drive it
 on a regular basis.

Have they been reliable? Yes, they have....with one caveat. They are not
modern cars. In dog years, a TR6 is at least 126 years old, and they need
attention that we take for granted with modern vehicles. When was the
last time any of us put a sprits of oil on he contact breaker pivot of a
Toyota
distributor? They will run as long as you want, provided you do some of the
common-sense maintenance required (it's all stated in the owner's handbooks
or ROM), and don't let the car sit until it turns into a pool of crap. This
last point
is extremely important. Many of really stupid problems posted to this list
(there
are other Triumph model specific lists whose participants do a better job
than
this one....unfortunately, there are too many lists) are associated with
owners
too lazy, timid or worried about driving their cars on a consistent basis.
They
don't age well in the garage....They will Rot and you will have Problems
with
your Triumph if you don't regularly drive it....PERIOD!!

Parts for Triumphs are very cheap and plentiful compared to modern or
high-end vehicles. There is an active industry willing to supply anything
you need for a TR6. Purchase a ROM...you will be amazed by how simple
it is to do many of the maintenance items yourself. Join a local a Triumph
club.. the members will help and support you...and in turn, you will help
others as you learn more. When it comes to maintaining a Triumph,
remember one thing, " The love you take is equal to the love you make"

Buy the best car you can afford. All the models are all fun. Use it !!
Don't let it sit! They run as well in Winter as they do in Summer. You
will come to appreciate the capabilities of the car you choose in all
 four seasons. Lastly, remember the cars were made to have fun in;
 drive in; make love in; have fights in; get-in-trouble in; propose in;
break-up in; pray in; get bored in; race in, etc. etc....you can't do
all that parked in a stupid garage! Drive It!!

Good Luck and I hope you find the car you like. NO ARCHIVE
