You can put any size tires you want on the car, from 10" garden tractor
size to SUV mud tires. You will *never* see a difference between
speedo/tach relationship, since the drive for the speedo is taken from the
tranny! The difference will be between "true" and "indicated" speed.

By the way, whoever decided that Michelin X tires were 78's? mine are at
least 82's. they are 1/2" bigger in diameter than my Coker Classic 195/75,
and those are a tiny bit taller than typical 205/70's.
