I have tried octane boost, still runs on. Engine temp at 3/4,
compression is supposed to be 10 to 1. Next test will be compression
test. Thanks,

Phil,

You didn't mention the year. The '73 and later engines have antirunon
valves that cause a depression in the float chamber after the ignition
is
turned off, effectively cutting off the fuel and eliminating (sometimes)
the
run-on. This hardware may not be working -- if it's a '73 or later.

The vacuum retard unit retards the timing about 10 degrees at idle.
This
necessities more fuel to keep it running at idle. You might try
disconnecting the vacuum retard (disconnect the little hose) and then
readjust (lower) the idle speed.

Have you raised the compression --- if so, try a higher octane fuel.
You
might try it even if you haven't raised the compression.

Have you checked the engine temperature, is it running very hot?
