For every anectdotal, ill-conceved project there are plenty of
well-received, heavily used metro systems that have been launched in the US
in the last 10 years. Not to mention the paramount systems that have been
in place in Europe since the Second World War.
How does this effect TR's? Road congestion, air quality and safety issues
are the very things that most threaten the continued existance of classic
and antique cars. We stand to be regulated into museum status and I for one
don't relish that prospect.
Leaving everything to the whims of an all-too-often short sighted market
place is also foolhardy. Investment in infrastuucture, even when it is not
fully optimised, is still better than no investment at all.
