As Dave said, the primary difference in the timing specs is that the US
figure is given with the vacuum retard active. This explains the
difference in the dynamic and static specs, and I believe you'll note
that the static (no retard) specs are the same.
IOW, your engine will run fine using a US-spec distributor with the
retard disconnected, and the advance line capped. If you can find a
UK-spec dizzy, you can expect to get maybe 10% better fuel economy
(having the advance active allows you to cruise at a lower throttle
setting), and snappier throttle response, possibly even less
overheating.
