Here's a couple of things to consider. I have tracked the fuel mileage of my
TR6 on the road top up and top down and have discovered the car gets about 4
mpg better mileage top up. This is definitely due to aerodynamics. The
second thing to remember is that the TR6 gas tank is tapered inwardly as you
get nearer the bottom, which makes the fuel level go down more quickly when
you are below 1/2 tank.
