Buy a new harness from British Wiring (britishwiring.com). Buy a crimping
tool, bullets, and connectors. Buy the grommets from Moss. Buy a battery
disconnect from Moss ($12.95). Buy a service manual. Scan or copy the
wiring diagram and blow it up to 11x17. Take it to Kinkos and have it
laminated. Follow the color code. Go slow. It's actually fun if you ease
into it and take it step at a time. Mark what you've done as you go with a
sharpie (comes off w.alchohol). Make sure you get the ground, brake wire,
and tail light wire hooked up to the right lugs on the tail light assembly.
Test carefully and for short periods and use the disconnect quickly if
things don't seem right. Feel the wires for heat. Hook the fuse box up
first. It is designed to blow fuses first before melt down. Works pretty
good too. Blew a few during the wiper hook up. I can help you with any
questions you might have. I have other folks that helped me I can turn you
on to as well. Go for it. When its done, it'll be right, and you'll be
proud. You'll also know more about how the car is wired and it is knowledge
that will come in handy later.
