Joseph, Bob, et al.,
It is a generic electrical part, used not only for driving lamps. I obtained
mine from a Smith's auxiliary heated rear window kit. My panel, while being
identical to Joseph's has a non Lucas switch in it (and this is how it was
straight out of the unopened box... the other boxes had the same non-Lucas
switch in it). The switch however does read "Made in England." The back of my
panel is also painted matte black, while Joseph's is bare. Dimensionally it is
identical, the diode light is also identical. Really the only difference
between the two is the switch itself.

To answer Bob's question, this is a two position switch (on and off) and is
apparently used for other purposes than aux. heated rear window screen
mechanisms, such as driving lights. I've got a pair of NOS Lucas Square 8 fog
lamps which await mounting one day on the TR6, and intend to use this switch.
Now that I've seen it with a Lucas switch, I'll swap in one from my recently
(de)parted 1966 MGB which has the nicer style Lucas toggle switch.
I also obtained the switch from British Miles quite some time ago, and Paul had
to hunt around for it because he sold the last one to Joe!
Say, anyone know where to purchase the black wrinkle finish type paint as found
on these switch panels? Any particular (quality) brand?
Cheers,
