I don't know about the TR3, but a friend and I changed the springs on my
TR6 last week. We followed the Bentley shop manual and their procedure did
not require a spring compressor. I have one but we didn't use it for this
job. Just put the car on jack stands and used the floor jack to compress
the suspension unless there is something different about the TR3. Oh- if
you're taking the lower control arm off for any reason, count the shims in
each lbracket BEFORE you unbolt them and they all clatter to the floor. ;{)
