Jim,
I just finished restoring my '60 TR3A and did several engine mods at the same
time-87mm pistons&jugs, head work inc. about 10to1 comp ratio, TR D cam,
Balance, etc. etc.. We were able to cut a little over 10 lbs off the stock
wheel w/o any problem.
Most of the weight came off the back (engine side) and we took a little off
the clutch face to true it up. Be sure to balance it after you cut it down.
The car idles pretty good and responds much quicker than it did before(even
w/Weber carbs)
If you don't want to try cutting it there was someone on the list who
contacted us about a friend who was having some aluminum flywheels made. I
think I have his info somewhere. let me know if you want me to look it up.
Regards,
Doug Ross
