Maybe TR6 diffs are a different animal, but I recently blew out the pinion
seal of my Spitire differential and my only clue as to how that might have
ocurred is that I damaged it by jacking up from the diff. Over the last few
months, I have jacked up the rear end using the differential, careful to
apply pressure to both halves of the main seal. The rear end started
leaking exactly the day after the last time I jacked up the car. It was an
OEM seal, so perhaps it was ready to go after 33 years anyway, but the
timing convinced me to never jack up the rear with the differential again.
I'm using a 2X4 across the floor jack under the right and left side frame
members.

Best wishes,

Jeff in San Diego
