It's been a while since I have whined to the list about my TR 6, so here
goes.
Changed the spark plugs & adjusted the points while tightening the
fitting on the spark plug wire 2nd from the firewall that was so loose
I'm surprised the breeze didn't blow it off. All that seemed to kinda
correct the starting problems. Car ran really strong for two weeks and
now it starts right up but is missing like at least on one cylinder
isn't fireing & sometimes two. Also kind of backfires. Sounds like a
timing thing to me but it has been 30 years since I actually tried to
set the timing on a car & that was a Corvair. I don't have a timing
light, do they still sell them?
Will any kind of spark plug wires work?
What is the gap for plugs and points and do they still sell the tools to
guage the gaps?
Pretty bad huh? The old devil technology got to me and I bought cars
that more or less take care of themselves and now I have forgotten most
of what my dad taught me about tuning a car. :(
Anyway. Your thoughts and ideas are - as always - welcomed.
