OK, guys, trump this....
Road and Track. October 1966. pp.18-19:
18: Black page. White text, about 20 pt type:
"The Renault for people who swore they would never buy another one"
19: standard 2 column text, 1/4 pg photo in lower right of Renault 10.
text:
We cannot blame anyone who swore they would never buy another Renault.
When we first sent our cars into this country we ran into a sad situation
We had, as we say in France, sold the skin of the bear before having put him
on the ground.
Our cars were not fully prepared to meet the demands of America, where
sustained high speeds are normal, where a heavy foot on the clutch is
normal, and where people are not used to fixing their own cars.
More than a fair share of things went wrong with our cars. Less than a fair
share of our dealers were equipped to deal with what went wrong.....
This is about 1/4 of the ad. Now, how come I have not heard from any
Renault 8 owners if Renault proper can do a better job of bashing their cars
(when they were new) than we can now ?!?!
