Sounds like you might have broken the taper pin holding the fork to the
clutch shaft.

Yesterday my clutch started misbehaving. I noticed that the travel of
the pedal once I felt resistance was shorter, and then it seemed not to
disengage properly: it became difficult to put it into gear. On closer
inspection, the lever above the clutch but in the engine bay seems to
have a lot of play in it - it seems loose.
Any ideas?
