Like others, I'm a self taught MIG welder. So take this for what its worth.

In my opinion, MIG is just fine for this application. The frames on these
are not really thick, and its mild steel. But like any weld, there are a few
things you are going to want to make sure of.

Make absolutely sure you are going to get the necessary penetration. Do a
couple of test welds on same thikness metal and do some destructive testing
on your test pieces. I found that smacking pieces of test welds with a
sledge at the test welded joint was pretty educational in getting the heat
setting, wire feed rate, gas flow, wire size and all those other vaiables
nailed down before I ever touched the frame.

Take extra time to ensure the weld areas are clean and free of corrosion,
oil, etc. Wire wheel on a drill, angle grinder (very carefully), or some
other way to prep the weld area. Then do a fit up. Make sure everything is
fixed in the right place when you start. And you can make several passes to
build up a pretty strong weld.

Good luck.
Mark

I need a new lower suspension mount welded to my frame on my TR6. Is MIG
weld OK or do I need to take it somewhere to have it TIG welded or
something?
