Greetings everyone! My name is John, and I am an LBC-aholic. I also
admit to being much more of a list lurker than active participant, but
the threads are informative and mostly enjoyable. :-)
I'm 36 and work as an environmental controls engineer. I recently left
"Seattle's commercial aircraft company" to go back to work for their
space products division in Houston. Of course, I'm stuck in Florida for
the next several months without my LBC, but this is another story.
My current toy is a '74 TR6. With the mechanical work done (really, is
it ever done?) from nose to tail, I eagerly await the opportunity to
get to the bodywork once I get settled in Houston. This is my 4th TR6,
and the first I have to give credit to my ex-wife for (gee, I sure do
miss that car). That was a 1969, red and black and it went like a bat
out of...
I never did get the opportunity to get in to it like I am my '74. Since
the first one, I had a '72, which was mostly a glorified rolling parts
car, and a '75 w/ OD which will be a strong runner once the new owner
gets through with a significant body resto.
Growing up, I was the classic gearhead, but revolving around the
typical American 60's muscle car (GTO's!). You know the stereotype.
I've had so many different vehicles, I'd need more bandwidth to begin
to list them. However, all it took was one little, well worn but solid
1969 TR6 and I was hooked.
On a personal note, my fiance isn't automotive-ly inclined, but she's
motivated to assist, learn and share in the enjoyment I get from
working on my "little project in the garage". When reinstalling the
engine/trans, she was right there getting just as greasy and grimy as I
was (thanks again Gayle). We both look forward to putting "her" back on
the road and meeting all the interesting people and their toys at the
conventions.
I've done some documentation, but not enough, of my '74 on the web. The
address is below for those willing to view it.
Finally - keep the list going. It's an excellent resource and daily
deversion. When I can, I promise to be more of a participant.
