Lucas dist cap - ?

On the distributor cap on my TR3a, the wires point out toward the left side
of the car (away from the block).
I am in receipt of another cap (used but looks OK), with the original Lucas
text on the top, which fits right on the distributor and snaps in place
beautifully. However, the wires on this one stick out toward the front of
the car, parallel to the vacuum advance. Otherwise the cap seems identical.
Anybody know what car it's really for? Also, I don't need it. Can anyone use
it?
