I have a couple questions relating to my 74 TR6. The first is about the intake
manifold. Does the coolant actually cool the manifold or is the pipe just
routed through the manifold casting? I've noticed a very slight
leak in the coolant pipe midway between the two carb plenums. I suspect it is
rusting through. I could cut out this section and put a rubber hose
in its place, or buy a whole new manifold. Has anyone had success with
another approach?
The other question regards the door check straps. The one is completely
missing on my car, including the two ears on the door where the strap
attaches. I've looked in my Bentley manual, as well as all the catalogs
to see how these ears are attached. Are these ears an integral part of
the door? No one seems to sell them. Can I replace them with the door in
place? Has anyone developed a fix for this problem?
Thanks for all your ideas!
I expect to go to the TRF party, probably on Friday since I want to buy some
parts, a new Monza exhaust in particular. It will be my first time there. I
would like to drive the car, but it is 160 mules and there are still some
questionable items to clear up on the TR6 (aren't there always?) so I think
I'll drive my truck. It holds more stuff anyways.
