Yes, and I recommend it. The dimmer varies the gauge lights from "too dim to
really see" to "completely off." I can't imagine ever needing to actually
operate the dimmer from the full on position. In my '71, I removed the dimmer
altogether, and replaced it with a clock -- something I can actually use!
