Dave,
I had this same decision to make when I replaced my windscreen glass and
decided that the rubber against clean paint was a good idea. It was based
somewhat on the terrible mess the old sealant had made. I spent lots of
time getting this stuff off with a heat gun and a scrapper and then some
paint thinner. Real pain in the buns.
Since I don't drive my car in the rain unless it is an accident..... the
rubber only is the way to go for me.
