The brake pedal on my 76 TR6 has to be put to the floor to get any
braking. With the pedal to the floor I only get slow down braking, not
lock up the wheels braking. This is something I was going to have
looked at in the Spring anyway to avoid such problems, but now the
problems are here. The master cylinder is full, no obvious leaking on
the floor or on the wheels, nothing else seems out of whack, brake pads
and shoes should be OK based on mileage, no brake light - but I think
it's burnt out (it never goes on).
Any diagnoses?
I will have the work done for me by a TR6 shop in the area. What should
I expect?
I have a thought about using the stainless braided brake hoses. Any
thoughts? The car is 99.99% original - would stainless braided hoses be
a mistake? Should I go to silicone fluid? Humidity is everywhere, I
understand, but the car is pampered and kept garaged. Regarding the
hoses and silicone, I don't mind spending a few extra bucks if I'm
getting a real improvement (so long as I'm not screwing up the
originality of the car).
Just looking for some valued opinions.
