I've finally solved the leaky PDWA problem by drilling the center of the
brass switch assembly and filling it with silver solder. That should hold
it until I can get a new switch assembly.
However, when I again tried to bleed the brakes, I found that I could get no
pressure in the system. I believe that my Master Cylinder has failed. I
really thought I had just replaced it about 2 or 3 years ago. But, how
time flies. After checking my service log, I found that it was nearly 10
years ago!
Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you have a good source for re-built Master
Cylinders for my '78 Spitfire? New ones are pretty salty. (approximately
$300.00!)
Or, could any of you refer me to a good shop that can sleeve the cylinder?
Rebuild kits are cheap (about $25), but based on the the condition of the
rest of the brake system when I started this project, I'm expecting the
cylinder to be pitted. So, I either need to find someone who can sleeve the
cylinder, or find a good rebuilt replacement.
Any ideas?
