I always assumed (maybe even read) that the "EB" stood for "Envelope
Body"... a term used in the 50s as British sports models went from cycle
fenders to wraparound bodies.

Also... I think commission numbers jumped from around 48000 to 50001
with the changes implemented in mid-April 1959, but I don't know what
happenned to EB numbers at that time.
