I have experienced the same symptoms on my 74 TR6 with both stock and Falcon
sport exhaust. For me the problem was easy to find but a little harder to
fix. My guess is your trunk seal doesn't seal anymore (and maybe never did).
Some of the trunk seals on the market (Moss in particular) aren't the same
as the factory seals and as a result they don't seal at all (at least for
me).
The amount of exhaust being sucked into my car was enough to stain a section
of the trunk lid inside the trunk. You could also feel air blowing in below
the rear bulkhead trim piece.
You can tighten the strike mechanism so the lid is drawn closer to the tub.
I hope it works for you because it certainly didn't for me! The other option
is the get some 3M spray carpet adhesive and clear plastic film (clear makes
it easier to see what you are doing) and insert a vapor barrier immediately
behind the rear bulkhead trim in the passenger compartment. Don't bother
working from the trunk side - the lid hinges will get in your way. Be
thorough because even small gaps will be enough to gas you out!
Hope this helps
