Chad,
I made a few phone calls some time ago regarding this and ending up talking
with Peter Boutcher. He is the one that put together the system for Dr. Formica
that was described in British Car Magazine. Anyway, here is the info I have on
it. Have to agree. Sounds like a great way to go. After I do a thorough
engine rebuild I think I'll get serious about the supercharger. Good luck.

Peter is developing the kit, that Dr. Formica used on his TR featured in
British Car Magazine. Dr. Formica received the first production model. Peter
has developed the kit for the TR-6 and for his TVR 2500, and is planning on a
kit for the MGB. The kit will consist of the adapter plate, belt tensioner,
sneeze valve, air box, throttle connection, and sundry hardware and will sell
for $700. Magnusson Products of Ventura, CA (Bob McInnis)sells the Eaton M-62
supercharger for about $1,000 and the bypass valve for $75. The only other
thing needed is the carburater. It is important to find an SU HD8. It has a
2" opening and they are becoming hard to find. Peter has a source to modify
the float bowl location if necessary. Depending on the cost of the carb the
overall system cost is about $2,000.

Jonathan,
Supercharging is a long-term goal for my TR6. To me, the idea of a true bolt
on performance kit is quite appealing. Someone told me that the supercharger
manufacturer and the TR6 owner in the article (both names escape me now) were
going to offer the upgrade in kit form for around $1500. Maybe someone else
on the list would have more info.
What excites me most is the fact that the TR6 in the article was a 75 with a
bone stock engine. With the supercharger alone I believe it was producing 190
bhp! I have a spare TR250 engine just waiting to be rebuilt. With a free
flow exhaust AND a supercharger on a high compression engine, after balancing
and port matching I may be able to keep up with Dan Masters' 302 powered
TRMonster!
Good luck, and let us know what you find out.
