Brad, (only my opinion) the fm mod will work and is dependable. the loss
will be in sound quality. you may or may not hear the differance but you
wont get as clean of a signal compaired to using the rca plugs. i've got
a jvc am/fm tape that has an aux input and a toggle on the front panel
for pluging a cd into. i dont know if they still offer the option or if
you are even in the market for a new head unit. hope this helps
