Austin Healey 100's -100-6's and 3000's all got 48 spoke wheels they are
more or less 500 lbs heavier than the comparable Triumphs,  I agree that
where there is a stronger alternative in the 60 spokes, yes go for it,  but
I still know guys who race on 48 spokes and have heard of plenty of sheared
off  hubs and other suspension failures but strangely have never heard of a
48 spoke wire wheel catastrophically
