TR4A HS6 Carb problem

All,
Checked the float bowls on the carbs I mentioned last week and found sludge.
cleaned them, flushed the needle seats, and float valves.  Installed anew
fuel filter.
Runs fine.  Will change filter more often, although I can't think what the
black sludge is.
