Lube questions

Listers:

I am about to replace the rubber gaiters on the steering rack and I wonder if
I need to/should inject some grease anywhere on the setup. While the gaiters
are off, should I (can I?) inject grease into where the tie rods go into the
rack. 
Also, next I'll be replacing the rubber bushings where the upper fulcrum arms
meet the fulcrum. Should I put petroleum jelly or grease on the bushing as I
replace them?
