Listers,
Here is an update on my quest for information on the color Velasquez
Cream. Thanks to Jonmac I found out that this color was only used on
around 20-30 cars total and only during the year 1961. Then a little later I
got a post from Don Marshall who just happened to have the Acme color
code for this color!! He mentioned that he got it out of an original Triumph
Damage Repair manual. So now I had the company and color number. The
only thing missing was where in the hell am I going to find an Acme paint
store. Started to think I was in one of the Road Runner Cartoons!! To the
rescue came Fred Thomas who just happened to know that Sherwin-
Williams owned Acme. (Fred did you get that from watching the cartoons?)
Well, armed with that info I called the local Sherwin-Williams auto paint
store and would you believe it, they said they could mix that color. Talk
about being shocked! So within 12 hours of having posted my request,
with little hope of success I might add, I had a place that could mix the paint
for me. Less than 4 hours later I had a 1/2 pint can of this elusive paint in
my hands. Now all I have to do is decide whether I want to use this color
or not.
I would have to say the list came through with flying colors.
Thanks to all involved.
