Paul,
I don't know about the very early TR4 calipers that you might have, but
the later TR4 and TR4A calipers can be rebuilt. Moss' catalog shows the
differences, basically, TR3A/B calipers got used on the first 4000 TR4s.
I got a Beck-Arnley rebuild kit for the TR4A calipers that included the
o-rings. TRF provided torque specs that they use to rebuild calipers
(45 ft-lbs for the small bolts, 75 ft-lbs for the large ones) earning them
the sale of some pistons. Don't know why Moss has that note in
their catalog, no-one else seems to think there's a problem.
