Dear Listers,

Thise of you who offered advice on these threads may be interested in my
findings...

The front wheel bearings looked absolutely new. I hammered the races with an
old race, in case they weren't home, repacked the bearings with Castrol
high-temp. bearing grease, and fitted new seals. I don't know how they are,
because I discovered the brake problem next.

I ruined a perfectly good brake pipe, thinking the threads of the union were
stripped (in poor light, I couldn't see that the threads aren't supposed to
go all the way to the end!).

I determined that the master was okay, so I removed the pressure
differential valve (PDV) and tried to diassemble it. All I could remove was
the big hex screw at one end, so I tapped the end of the piston assy. with a
hammer, in case it was siezed (I hope I didn't damage any internals). I then
fitted crimped pipes (with unions) to the 2 outputs for the fronts,
connected the inputs and rear output, and stood on the pedal - still no
fluid coming out the rear circuit.

I then removed the rear pipe from the PDV, and disconnected it from its
union beside the transmission. I tried to blow through it, and discovered it
was blocked! (Of course, I had to buy $80. worth of unecessary parts before
I thought of this!)

I'm into my 3rd week of public transport, but I should be mobile by Sunday
afternoon. I can't wait to see how quickly she stops with front _and_ rear
brakes!
