first i apologize to those on both lists, but as this has to do with
my spit, and some have migrated to only the spit list...
sat on the floor pondering the stuck shock bolt in the lower a-arm
last night...heat, BFH, much cussing didn't seem to have an
effect....then in a fit of either brilliance or ineptitude, i grabbed
the impact gun, found an appropriate socket and proceeded to impact on
the bolt head forward and backward...about 30 seconds into this
exercise, zip out comes the bolt.. FINALLY... get the shock tower out
spring is pretty badly mucked, so new spring time...also new upper
ball joint, trunnion (i prefer the kind packed in mustard), shock,
steering knuckle, steering boot....basically everything i didn't
buy....(mind you now the other side is already done) so now i get to
take that apart again...just thought everyone would like to know (if
you own air tools)that and impact wrench works wonders...
also, if some one can answer this query...when i got the tower apart
and took the shock out, the only identifying markings are the fact
that at one point it was blue...and it has made in england stamped on
it...i'm taking it that these are stock shocks that came with the car
in 1979...so i guess i go all the way and put spax or konis on (let's
start this argument again) based on the fact that i like driving
hard...if the tires don't squeel in a rh turn, your not
driving....(barring a stop sign of course)
tia...now i get to look through the catalogs....more money i don't have
