Actually it wasn't the installation of the overdrive that gave the slight
performance boost but the lower rear end gear ratio. The overdrive just
brings the cruising RPM close to what it was with the 3.27 ratio, so you
get an off the line and acceleration boost without sacrificing relaxed
freeway cruising -
