Peter-
My cross bar doesn't attach to the heater box. It is out of the car now,
but it looks like the rubber bumper just "pushes" against the side of the
heater box. The crossbar is a couple of inches longer (the bent-up part)
on the driver's side, and I think the bumper is supposed to be on this end
of the bar. This would be on the highest part of the bar on the driver's
side.
The bracket which is attached to the heater box is near the center of the
crossbar, but doesn't quite reach to it in my car. And there's no
screwholes or anything on this part of my crossbar. So I don't know
what the bracket's for (it's attached to my radio now).
Good luck. -Lex Garey, Shelby, NC
