andy, get some bigger jackstands....nevere had a problem on any car, and
with the car up off the ground don't see a problem getting the spit
tranny out from underneath..will try tommorow, (going to do anyway) and
let you know....

I'm pretty sure that there is no practical way to take the gearbox out
through the bottom. Through the cockpit gets my vote!
