My $0.02. Over the past 7 years of rolling restoration on "Rags" (our '74
TR6), I started out with VB. Then I discovered Moss, and when I discovered
this list, I discovered TRF. My loyalty always went with the "new discovery".
Over the past couple of years, I now use all three. TRF of recent has annoyed
me with having very little in stock (I've had stuff on backorder for over 12
months). The quality of VB can be suspect. I find Moss has everything
in stock and they are very fast. The downside of Moss is that I have to
pay Calif. sales tax. TRF is more knowledgable, and their parts catalog
cannot be beaten!. But VB can come out on top; eg, I recently ordered an alloy
valve cover from VB - I had very special requirements for the valve cover,
and was unable to find one that suited here in the US. But I did find it
at VB, and quite inexpensively too.
After dealing with the big 3, one gets to know their catalogs very well, and
one develops a sense for who will provide the better quality parts. This
is how I work, and I am usually satisfied.
I would like to experiment with BPNW, as they seem to come with outstanding
references from this list, but a lack of a catalog really makes it tough
for me to make that transition away from the big 3.
