It was a beautiful warm sunny day here in Mass on Saturday so I
thought I'd pull Bella out of the dark, damp garage and let her take a
sun bath. I folded the top down for the first time and put the rear
cover over the folded top..ooh, it looks so nice!
Anyway, I was looking at the commission number and saw the paint code
65 with trim code 11. (My TR is that wedgewood blue ...everywhere
including trunk interior, hood interior, door jambs...everywhere. I
never had a reason to believe it was any other color. Even after
spending 4 weeks at the mechanics he never noticed anything different.
Then it happened, I saw a glint of green where the blue had been
scratched off. HMMM.. I then noticed more traces of green in the deep
recesses of the engine compartment! Well, according to Bentley (which
I left on my desk at work), my car was originally EMERALD, the 6th
shade of green. Emerald? The Bentley manual refers to cactus, olive,
confer (maybe conifer?), lichfield, laural, and last, emerald. There
is no mention of BRG. Where did BRG come from; earlier Triumph's? The
car is going to need a paint job someday and I'd like to return it to
it's original color, but EMERALD? Has anyone seen this color? When I
think Emerald, I think St. Patrick's Day and Irish. No offense to
anyone, but hey, I've got Italian in me down the line. Is this color
offensive? Is there a later car out now with this color I could
compare it to?
