Another option is a conversion that I saw on a Stag (same original gearbox).
The owner had fitted a Nissan 4 speed autobox. This was from Nissan Skyline
(the same gearbox was used in VL Holden Commodores in Australia and New
Zealand).

The advantage of this gearbox is that it does not have the electronics that
modern gearboxes have and therefore no need for computer controls.

Apparently the conversion cost $NZ2800 fitted professionally, You would
never know the difference unless you looked closely under the car.

BTW, I also have a 2500S Manual Overdrive, made in 1979 in New Zealand (one
of the last assembled and well after production had stopped in the UK).
