To Phil Smith, Ken Gano (and anyone else interested in a route 66 trip).
How about the first half of June, (maybe the heat of the desert will
be less?) People could converge from the north or south to route 66. The
caravan would start in the east and as it moved along more people would join
as it traveled west. This way people would not have to travel to the
starting point to get in on it.
Now; all we need is a route to publish on this list, (or a map on a web
site), then come up with a timeline of travel so people would know where and
when the caravan would be traveling through certain parts of the country.
They could then plan vacations ect. to join up. By the time Ca. is reached
we could have .....how many thousand? :)
It would be awesome to link up with a large British car event in California
so that the group would end up there for that event.
OK now lets divvy up the work load. We need someone to:
1. Come up with the route.
2. Put a map on a web page somewhere.
3. Pick a date and timeline for travel, with overnight stops.
4. Be contact people along the route to fan local interest ie:
local car shows
route 66 festivals
British themed events
5. Research what could be done regarding mechanical needs during the
drive.
6. Talk a British brewer into driving a semi-load.......nah!
