Peter,
I don't know about the other cars, but the frame on my Spitfire was
painted the same color as the body (signal red). It obviously was
painted before the body went on because the tops of the channels were
Red too. And You are correct, the suspension pieces were black attached
to the body-colored mounts. I recommend prinimg the frame with Epoxy
primer before applying the body color to inhibit rust.
