TR3A Gearbox/OD additives

I've got a leaky gearbox/OD unit which I have to top up periodically
(wouldn't be so bad if I could get at the filler without jacking the car
up).  There are various additives that promise to "renew" the seals and I
was thinking about adding one of them.

Has anybody tried this?   Is it effective?   Does it effect winter storage?
