For my two cents worth, I wouldn't waste the money. The dash lights are
barely usable as it is, even with the dimmer set to the brightest setting. If
it were me, I would just jumper the rheostat out, and leave the knob in place
just for apearance sake.

As a matter of fact, I did just that, with one minor difference - I filled
the space left by removing the rheostat completely, knob and all, with a
clock.

If you have any interest in how I did it, I would be happy to supply the
details.
