Even if there is a small brass freeze plug in the end of thedecell valve
body, it can be removed from the decell valve to expose the adjusting screw.
Just dissassemble the unit and punch it out...literally.There is an "O" ring
that seals this screw to the body...one of those most throw away when done
with an overhaul because it appears to fit nothing.... and the formula to
lock out the decell valve from running problems like high idle is to turn the
screw clockwise all the way until it stops...then turn it 11 (eleven)
complete turns counterclockwise only. This will give you maximum spring
pressure on the brass plug and "seals" the valve diaphram from vacuum
operation without disengaging the hex sided guide in it's bore inside the
valve body. All of this asumes that you have replaced these diaphrams already
and that they have no tears or leaks. These do not come in the rebuild
kit.And this assumes that you have replaced the throttle spindle seals which
also do not come in the average 175 series rebuild kit. (and be sure to
replace the damper seal to keep oil from running out the bottom of the
airhorn. If you have to "top up" the damper more than 3 or 4 times a year
it's time to do the seal here too). Good luck!!
