Some mid-1970s Spitfire 1500s used a clutch fan. Two problems come to
mind:
1. The clutch is a rather expensive bit to replace when it decides to
leave this world.
2. I have seen those clutches go in a rather, er, dramatic way, at which
point (even with a plastic fan) one might be looking at a new radiator
core as well as a new clutch and fan.
