You're right, it's hard to make them blow up!
John Warfield (now TRA President) was rear ended *VERY HARD* in his late `70's
Spit by a tractor-trailer. It broke his back, totally demolished the car, but
he survived. No fire, no explosion. To this day credits his survival to the
toughness of that Spitfire.
As far as fire goes, the fire problems in Triumphs are due to carb leaks and
faulty wiring, not any "GM Pickup" gas tank problems.
Let`s hope NBC News doesn't test a Triumph.
