I agree with this. A front or rear end collision is going to leave the fuel
tank pretty much untouched. Iıve heard of some serious accidents in Spits, but
none that involved fire. Also, the car was manufactured with the tank in that
location from 1962-80 ... plenty of time to realize a problem if there were
one.
Locating a fire extinguisher inside the cab (on the floor, for instance), might
bring some reassurance. A roll bar is also a consideration. But nothing works
better than lookinı out for the other guy...
