Mornin' guys and gals,
The DPPO strikes again! (Thats the dreaded pre-previous owner!)
The control head on my TR3B was seriously botched when I purchased the
car. A piece of wood was being used to keep the assembly together, as a
critical plastic piece was gone. BTW, the same plastic piece Scott
Ashton was looking for...
So, I buy the new control head, read the section in the Bentley at least
10 times on replacing the control head. Finally I think I got it. I
postion everything and offer up the control head. The contol head stator
tube does not engage the steering column stator tube. I go down to the
steering box and wipe the grime off the brass olive. (I love these
English terms) No olive. I wonder what is holding in the stator tube?
The answer? What stator tube! The DPPO plugged the bottom of the
steering box with a plastic plug! The botch job involved pulling the
electricals out of the control head and putting a three postion toggle
on the dash for the turn signals and a button for the horn. The control
head was jury-rigged and the steering column stator tube was trashed.
Yikes!
So I need steering column stator tube for a TR3B with a one piece column
with an adjustable steering wheel. Anybody have one they are willing to
part with?
I know I can fabricate one if I had the dimensions. If anybody has one
handy and are not willing to sell it, I could greatly benefit from a few
moments of your time.
Does anybody know if the steering column stator tube is different in a
one piece column verses a split two piece column?
Thanks in advance
