Back in the olden days (say 67-68 or so), I lusted over what appeared to be
a works car just outside of Rochester NY. The car was an ugly light powder
blue and aluminum. The couple who owned it (she was an instructor at
Brockport NY (State univ ) at the time), drove the car for a few years in
the salty winters and it was definetly starting to show its age, when they
crashed it. At that time it had only become an interesting, albeit
"worthless" car, so when they wrecked it , I lost interest. The couple told
me at one time that it was indeed a factory works rallye car and they
seemed quite adamant about it, but hey...what do I know...

With 20/20 hindsight...
