Dave and others,
Its in the Dec/Jan issue of TW, and those two cars are the ones owned by
Neil Revington afterall (he is photographed alongside them). Interestingly
the tags on one of those cars is visible in the photograph, and unless my
memory fails me is "6VC." There was a vintage photograph reprinted
recently of three works rally TR4s competing in the Nurburgring rally in
1962 or '63 which appeared in the "Moss Motoring" publication. The
tags on those cars were "3VC, 4VC, and 5VC," and they had similar trim,
with the exception that the latter cars did not have wing vents as did the
Revington cars. According to Andy Mace, the notable Triumph scholar ;-),
three aluminum bodied cars were sent originally to this country. So
assuming that these were neither the Nurburgring cars (which were
obviously Europeans) nor the Revington cars (which are still in the
motherland), then three aluminum-bodied American cars are still
unaccounted for... Maybe someone with experience in the TR4 racing world
can shed light here... Irv Manteno or John Lye for instance...
